Endorsement recindment announcement – iPA Board

Due to recent statements made to the Oregonian and reported on 10/17 in the Oregonian’s Editorial Endorsement, independents for Progressive Action’s Board has voted to rescind our organization’s endorsement of Elizabeth Glaser Lindsey for House District 39.  We in NO way endorse her opponent, but cannot, as a Progressive organization whose mission includes “promoting alliances and direct action for the Four Justices: Racial, Social, Economic, and Environmental” endorse any candidate who espouses support of ballot measures which are anti-immigrant/pro-profiling or anti-choice. As the article points out, her opponent also favors these measures.  We leave it to you, the voters, to determine your course of action.

As a result of this event, the iPA Board will be revising its endorsement process to include statements of support for Progressive values aligned with the Four Justices.  We thank you for your understanding as we improve our processes.

Be well,
Lisa Ortiz, iPA Chair, on behalf of the Board of independents for Progressive Action
